Singing the songs from the Helen Creighton Collection with Clary Croft
Presented by Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Culture and Atlantic Voices

Clary Croft, renowned folklorist, singer, songwriter, biographer, archivist and author of Helen Creighton: Canada’s First Lady of Folklore will present material from Dr. Creighton’s collection of folk songs from the Maritimes.  By exploring the songs Dr. Creighton collected from various cultural groups on Canada’s east coast, Clary will illustrate in song how folk music helped to keep traditions alive in an area famous for its folk music heritage.  Clary will offer several examples where participants can sing along and learn to understand how the oral tradition can still be an exciting part of learning new songs.
